Atami Mapito is an inert (non-nutrient) substrate composed of mineral wool flakes and polyurethane flakes. It has a solid structure and contains an optimal ratio of water and oxygen.

  • You need to pay close attention to the quality of these flakes. On sale we can find unpacked Mapito flakes, which attract their low price, but it is a waste product of the furniture industry. That's why it's important to choose the Mapito substrate from ATAMI, because if you do not use a good substrate, your cultivation will be more difficult.
  • It is important to thoroughly rinse the Mapito substrate before use to reduce the EC value. When cultivating in Mapit, carefully check the pH value in the substrate - maintain a pH value of 5.3-5.8.
  • An important step before growing is to let Mapito soak for 24 hours. In case of poor or no soaking there is a risk that Mapito will not work properly and will ingest much less water. Plants will not have enough water and nutrients. Growers will encounter the problem of uncrushed cuttings, or young, often vulnerable cuttings will not last long.
  • Try to fill the container substrate as much as possible. Using as many flakes as possible prevents the substrate from falling too low after the first soak. By using enough flakes, the substrate will be high enough to grow healthy plants after shrinkage. If the Mapito substrate still falls, add more flakes to create the optimum substrate layer.

The package contains 80 l of substrate.
